Glass Gaiwan

A traditional Chinese brewing vessel, made of clear heat-resistant glass. The gaiwan is at the heart of Gong Fu Cha, where short, successive infusions allow a single tea to reveal itself across many cups. Its three simple parts (bowl, lid, and saucer) give you complete control: fill with hot water, cover briefly, then tilt the lid to pour off the liquor, holding back the leaves.

Glass is a particularly beautiful material for a gaiwan. Nothing is hidden. You can watch the leaves unfurl, follow the deepening colour of each steep, and read the tea as much with your eyes as with your palate. It suits any style but is especially generous with green teas, white teas, oolongs, and delicate blacks where visual clarity is part of the pleasure.

Capacity: 150ml, a classic single-person Gong Fu size.

Material: Heat-resistant borosilicate glass.

Care: Rinse with warm water after use. Avoid sudden temperature changes (do not pour boiling water into a cold gaiwan). Hand wash recommended.
