Porcelain Gaiwan, 250ml. Hand-Painted Goldfish

A traditional Chinese lidded brewing vessel in fine white porcelain, hand-decorated with a pair of goldfish in soft black ink. The design is a classic motif in Chinese art. Goldfish (jinyu) share their name with the words for "gold and jade," making them a symbol of abundance and, in pairs, of harmony. A quiet red seal finishes the composition, framed by a slender orange band running the rim of both bowl and lid.

The gaiwan itself is at the heart of Gong Fu Cha, where short, successive infusions allow a single tea to unfold across many small cups. Its three simple parts (bowl, lid, and saucer) give you full control: fill with hot water, cover briefly, then tilt the lid to pour off the liquor while holding back the leaves.

Porcelain is the traditional material of choice for a gaiwan. It stays neutral in flavour, holds heat cleanly, and lets each tea speak for itself, making it a beautiful all-rounder for greens, whites, oolongs, and blacks alike.
