Ceramic Gaiwan, 150ml. Hand-Painted Hydrangea

Ceramic Gaiwan, 150ml. Hand-Painted Hydrangea

A softly beautiful lidded brewing vessel in warm cream ceramic, hand-decorated with clusters of white hydrangea in full bloom against dark green leaves and slender branches. The design carries a quiet sense of late spring and early summer. In East Asian floral symbolism, the hydrangea is associated with gratitude, sincerity, and understanding, its rounded clusters suggesting harmony and abundance.

The gaiwan is at the heart of Gong Fu Cha, where short, successive infusions let a single tea reveal itself across many small cups. Its three simple parts (bowl, lid, and saucer) give you full control: fill with hot water, cover briefly, then tilt the lid to pour off the liquor while holding back the leaves.

The warm ceramic body gives this piece a softer, more grounded feel than its porcelain counterparts. Well suited to darker teas such as ripe pu-erh, aged whites, roasted oolongs, and full-bodied blacks, where a little warmth in the vessel echoes the character of the tea.

Capacity: 150ml, a classic single-person Gong Fu size.

    Material: Ceramic, hand-painted.

Care: Rinse with warm water after use. Avoid sudden temperature changes and heavy knocks. Hand wash recommended to protect the painted design.
