Bamboo Matcha Scoop (Chashaku)
Bamboo Matcha Scoop (Chashaku)
The traditional Japanese scoop for measuring matcha — hand-carved from a single piece of bamboo, gently curved at the tip, and shaped by centuries of tea ceremony practice. Where a metal spoon feels clumsy against the fineness of the powder, the chashaku glides in cleanly and lifts the perfect amount without disturbing the leaf.
One scoop delivers roughly one gram of matcha — the traditional measure for a bowl of usucha (light matcha) is two scoops, doubled for koicha (thick matcha). Simple, precise, and quietly beautiful on the tea tray.
Material: Natural bamboo.
Care — bamboo needs a little attention:
- Never soak in water — prolonged contact will warp or crack the wood.
- Wipe clean with a soft dry cloth after each use. Rinse only if needed, gently and briefly.
- Dry immediately and let it air fully before storing.
Kept dry between uses, the scoop will darken beautifully with age and become a quiet part of your matcha ritual.
